As Kiwis we know how lucky we are to live in the most pristine and untouched environment in the world. Spectacular glaciers, picturesque fiords, rugged mountains, lush forests, a volcanic plateau and miles of sandy coastline. This is our New Zealand and together we share a strong sense of guardianship to protect it now and for the future.

Now more than ever each of us needs to do our bit as our precious native environment is under pressure on all fronts. The diversity and conservation status of our native species is declining with nearly a third of our remaining native bird species currently classified as threatened, water quality in our rivers has worsened, pests remain a serious threat to our indigenous animals, plants & habitats, and we humans have wiped out two thirds of our native forests and bush. If ever there was a time to act, it’s now. 

Introducing even betterer – bringing you and and our local conservation heroes together to protect our environment.

All over New Zealand local conservation heroes are volunteering their precious time and resources to a diverse range of conservation projects, all of which play a vital part in restoring New Zealand’s native flora and fauna.  Guys like Anthony Behrens who’s committed to saving the endangered Whio (Blue Duck) population in Manawatu and Mike Camm from Tutukaka Landcare Coalition who’s determined to bring the Kokako back to Northland. These “grass roots” environmental crusaders have passion and commitment in spades, but to have real impact they need your support.
